Students From Around The World Share The Moment They Stood Up To A Teacher

School is easily one of the most challenging parts of our lives. One thing that's a major factor in our education is teachers. Some of them have been completely supportive while others have been a complete disaster. As a student, you knew better to not come face to face with them. Unfortunately, these people unleashed some fury towards some horrible teachers, with mixed results.

50. Plan Your WORDS Better

One of my best friends in high school had died in a car accident, and a couple of days later my friends and I told my teacher we would not be able to make it to class because of the viewing. She then proceeded to tell us that we need to plan our days better and how irresponsible it was of us. I've never felt so much rage. I called her every name in the book and ended up getting suspended. Whatever. I will never apologize. Screw you, Mrs. Weaver.

49. The IT Crowd

My IT teacher wanted to inspect my work, spread sheets or a word document or something. Anyway she accidentally deleted the file. I was upset and tried to point out she just deleted my work. She started to shout at me telling me I should have saved frequently, I shouted back telling her that wasn't the issue, she outright deleted the file.

It got pretty heated. My parents were called. We were outright yelling at each other for a good couple of minutes to the point where we were both in tears. I was about 14 at the time. She should have known better.

A few years later, my sister had her when she went to that school and that same teacher berated my sister calling her names etc. What a piece of work.

48. Screw You For Helping

A couple of weeks into my senior year of high school, the president gave a speech about the importance of school or something. I don't know. I wasn't really paying attention. Anyway, all of the teachers in my school had to set up their projectors so we could watch it.

My math teacher couldn't figure out how to get her projector working. So, me being the nerdy kid, I offered to help. She had a fit. She started screaming about how she wasn't stupid and how I needed to just sit down and shut up.

After a few more minutes of her failing to fix it, she pointed at me and ordered me to fix it. I said, "Fix it yourself."

She told the whole class to go next door to watch the speech in that teacher's room. When we got up to leave she pulled me to the side and told me that when the class got back I was going to stand up and apologize for being so rude to her. I refused and went to join the rest of the class.

She spent the rest of the year making my life miserable. She told me on several occasions that she was going to make sure that I failed her class. Sure enough, I failed her class. The only class I ever failed.

47. Her Name Was Ms. Blades

There was a high school English teacher, Ms. Blades, who was ignoring me for a while. It's worth mentioning that she didn't really like me for some reason. I wasn't a bad or annoying kid, in fact, I was very non-confrontational and mostly kept to myself in and out of class, so I don't know what that was about. Anyway, I had my hand up because I had to use the bathroom and she kept pacing about the room, answering other kids' questions, but would glance at me and immediately look away.

After about 5 minutes with my hand up and getting ignored (and about to poop my pants), I whistled as loud as I could. Interrupting anyone was completely out of character for me. Well, once upon a time, I had a chipped one of my front teeth, so I could whistle extremely loud because of it. It was the whistling equivalent of firing a gun in a closed room. Absolutely deafening.

The entire room went quiet and she snapped her head around so fast. As her name might suggest, Ms. Blades was staring daggers into my face. Then one kid goes, "Ooooh, he just called you a dog, ooohhhhhhhhhh." Then she gained serious momentum from that one-off and said, "Oh, I don't think so! You think I'm a dog!? You think I'm a dog!?"

I got sent to the principal's office for disrespecting an ignorant teacher. I used the bathroom on the way there.

46. Show Your Work

Did a math test and on the paper, you could ONLY mark your answer, you had to do the calculations on another paper. Long story short, my teacher lost my calculations paper and wouldn’t admit it. He said I didn’t hand it over, that I cheated and some other crap...

So I went to the school principal and asked to take the test again and she let me. My teacher asked to look while I did the test, he made another test, waaaaaaaaay harder. I freaking aced it, right in front of him. He hated my guts for the rest of high school and I couldn’t care less.

45. That's How You Get An Extra 20%

I had a geography teacher at a community college (took a transferable class over the summer to finish my BA since it was not offered at my school that summer) that treated us like junior high kids.

All kinds of weird stuff. Assigned seating, threatening to dock points on everyone's exams if even one person showed up late. She would give these long annoying lectures about how she lived at the base in Antarctica for the whole class then at the end give a 10 minute PowerPoint with information that was completely wrong and fell apart the second you pulled out the class text book (and yes she tested us on wrong info).

Then one day she told me that I couldn't go to the bathroom until after class. I had a small, yet calm meltdown about her behavior about 6 inches away from her face before I went to the bathroom.

Apparently, my dissent broke what little control she had over the class. Right after I left she turned on a group of girls who giggled at the whole scene and started screaming. They (about 5 of them) stood up and directly went to the dean and then the about 4 other admin offices to leave written complaints.

The next time we had class, she apologized for her behavior, handed back our last exam with +20% on everyone's grades, and quietly finished the semester with nothing but videos. She was fired or quit (not sure which) as soon as the class was over.

44. This Is College, Not High School

I once had a professor try to take my phone from me when I took it out to check a text message. I was only checking to make sure it wasn't important or an emergency. When I refused to hand it over he tried to take it. I told him to back the [bleep] off. He was taken aback, probably used to dealing with teens. I was in my mid-twenties and was not handing over my property just because some jackhole spoke sternly to me.

43. Do You Want Me To Pee Here?

I had a philosophy professor in college (graduation requirement) who asked me where I was going as I got up to use the bathroom. I told him I was going to the bathroom, and he said I couldn't go. I told him I was 26 years old and that I never had to ask permission to use the bathroom when I was in the army and I sure as heck wasn't going to ask him for permission to empty my bladder.

He called me "killer" on a frequent basis because I was a veteran (I was also the only veteran on the campus of this tiny school) despite making it clear that I was anti-war. Never made a stink out of it though, I've been called worse things by better people. Not to mention he had tenure, so I would have been fighting a losing battle.

42. Can You Hear Me Now?

Professor in college said we had to do an assignment that included recording our voices from this text book's script. Then we would put the recordings into a mock "training" program we would write.

The class was about programming, not voice acting. I refused to do it because the number of lines was unreasonable, and he said we needed to do the recordings in high quality. I had better assignments to work on. He tried to go to the dean (small school) since others in the class refused similarly.

The dean just said, " So give 'em an F, then." He's not gonna expel us for refusing to do an assignment if we're okay with taking a 0. We all still passed just fine.

41. Your Punishment Is More Bullying

I called out a teacher in primary school (I was in primary 4, so I would have been around 10/11 years old) for letting her son bully me constantly. She gave me detention. With him and four of his friends. And then left the room for a while.

40. The Lawyer In You

To preface this, I’m a type 1 diabetic, have been since I was 3. This would’ve been sixth grade. We had a sub one day, right before lunch, and every day I go to the nurse to check my blood sugar. So I tell him and he tells me to sit down, ok I get it. But then he lets a kid who said he has asthma (he didn’t have asthma) go and I stood up and started to spew all the legal stuff my brain could think of.

39. One Nation Under...

My favorite is when I actually sat down to a teacher. It was morning and time to do the pledge. I love our country but refuse to say our nation is under god, so I respectfully decline to do the pledge. This got Mr.H so upset he kicked me out of class. While roaming the hallway the Vice Principal asked me why I wasn’t in class. I told him I was kicked out for not standing for the pledge. The VP walked me back to class and pulled Mr.H into the hallway. A few minutes later I was issued an apology from Mr. H.

38. Do You Believe Me Now?

A friend of mine wanted to go to a certain university that was out of state and somewhat tough to get into. The counselor told him not to waste his time as he would never get in. This ticked him off so he went to the principal, who told him to trust the counselor as that was her job.

He applied anyway, got accepted, and taped two copies of his acceptance letter to the counselor's and principal's door. He couldn’t afford to go anyways, but he was trying to prove a point.

37. Leadership Means Admitting Your Mistakes

I flipped my lid on a logic professor who "lost" my assignment's records and instead gave me zeros.

"YOU DIDN'T DO THEM... I'M LOOKING AT YOUR GRADES AND THEY ARE 0'S THAT'S WHY YOU HAVE A D!"

Me: 'Look you [bleeping] idiot, I have papers you've graded right here. They aren't even good, but they are NOT 0's.'

It was over the phone, but eventually I read through his comments on my papers while he was trying to argue with me.

That's when he's like, "Okay... that doesn't sound made up... Scan your papers and email them in."

I went from a D to a B.

36. Three Annoying Words

I had a calculus professor in college who had such poor English, she could only say “you do this.” I confronted her about her lack of vocabulary one day after class. She said that it wasn’t her fault I was failing the class. So I recorded audio from a lecture of hers to show to the head of the Math department. I was able to count over 150 times the phrase “you do this” was used in a 45 minute lecture. She was replaced two weeks later and that’s when I started understanding calculus. But I was furious that someone was put in a place to teach that could only explain things by saying “you do this.”

35. What Goes Around Comes Around

At the beginning of the semester, I asked a programming teacher if I could test out of his course as I had quite a lot of industry experience with that language at the time.

The teacher decided he was going to teach me a lesson for some reason, about how unqualified I was to test out of his class. So he kept losing my assignments and giving me 0's. I got a B in a class that I had actually perfectly completed every assignment, attended every lecture, and scored 100% on every test. Needless to say, I was quite upset at him.

Fast forward a few years later. I'm at work. Developing in-house software for an ISP.

Boss comes to me and tells me I need to train the new hire up on the application my team has been working on for the last 2 years. The new hire will be my direct subordinate.

Who's the new hire? My horrible programming teacher from a few years before.

His first 2 weeks of work, I deleted every piece of code he wrote. (They kinda sucked anyways). After 2 weeks I reported to my boss that he was unable to finish even a single line of code in the application.

He got fired before his probie period was up.

34. Score Three For The Class

In 9th grade biology, I had a really stupid teacher. For our quizzes, we used an online service and basically there were written questions where you had to spell the answer perfectly to get points. I took a quiz and I was certain that I had gotten 10/10 but it was graded as a 7/10. I told the teacher that there was something wrong and told him to check the answers. He started implying I was being a smartass but eventually budged and checked the questions. It turned out he spelled 3 of the answers incorrectly when making the test, so when I spelled them correctly it marked them as incorrect. I basically got the whole class 3 extra points.

33. Day One Hater

11th grade Math class, the teacher was absolutely horrible to a lot of students but especially to me. While grading tests she would ignore everyone's little mistakes but go overboard grading mine, she would only ask if I did homework, no one else did homework and she wouldn't check, and I always did it but she would accuse me of doing it badly and just copying the answers (I didn't, she was just horrible).

One day I just walked out of class and that was it. I only passed Math that year because she went sick before the last test, in which I got a 14/20 when I previously got an average of 8/20. I never did anything to her, she just basically hated me from day one. One of the biggest reasons why I started hating math classes.

32. In Front Of A Live Audience

3 years ago I was a sophomore in college. In Physics lab we were going over velocity type stuff. He did an equation on the board of what it should come out to (did the math in his head) and was wrong. I wasn't going to call him out in front of the class, I just knew it was wrong and figured I'd do it the right way when we went into our groups.

So we go into groups, we're doing our measurements and calculations, he comes over to check and says that my math is wrong. Here's the thing. There are very few things in life that I'm super confident in, but my math is 99% of the time not wrong. So I politely explained to him why mine was correct and his math on the board was actually wrong, and he started yelling at me. Class of 30 people have entirely stopped doing their work to watch us argue.

I said "Ok, watch," went up to the board in front of the entire class and proved his math was wrong and mine was correct. Then told him to double check it before he made an idiot out of himself, and that he now owed me an apology for calling me an idiot in front of the class.

He then stormed out. Didn't matter because our work wasn't due until the next week anyway, but still. I was then stuck answering all of the math questions for the rest of the class the rest of the day.

He didn't question my math anymore.

31. Shout At The Devil

I snapped because another teacher walked into the room wondering what was going on because the math teacher (Mr. Curry) was just screaming his head off at the class again. He’s one of those teachers that goes crazy with power, along with the fact that he believes that he deserves respect -- which is understandable, yet in this guy, no. He literally started disrespecting us before anyone ever disrespected him. When the other teacher (Mr. Rompella) walked in he asked: “What is going on in here?!?” And before Curry could even try and cover it up I yelled at Rompella, “HE’S RUDE AND CONSTANTLY DISRESPECTING US!!!!” Or something along the line of that.

I mostly yelled this because I had no idea if any of the other teachers knew how awful he was (they were aware, we just didn’t know), but mostly I was ripping Curry a new one and Rompella had to take me to the office because I was screaming at him and also he wanted me to tell him about the things Curry had done. I was writing them down, he was that bad.

I was so loud that the class next door could hear.

The next day basically everyone in my school was praising me for calling him out.

It was awesome. Still in my top 3 best moments in high school.

30. It's Always The Quiet Ones

When I was in college doing IT we had a lecturer that no one particularly liked. I suffer from anxiety, depression, and OCD, so I'm usually a quiet person and keep to myself.

One day we had to write an essay and I wrote mine fairly quickly and told her I was done. She came over to me. I assume because I'm quiet and my OCD/anxiety makes me stumble over my words, she thought I was a bit thick and wasn't capable of writing an essay to the standard that I did.

Long story short she ended up accusing me of plagiarizing from Google, so I said to her that she was mistaken and that she could check to see if I had copy and pasted anything etc. She didn't believe me and told me to delete it and do it again, it was at this point that I lost my cool and stood up in the middle of the class, told her that I wasn't doing it again, that she was a terrible tutor and a huge idiot that no one liked and that she could go and walk off a cliff.

29. Candy For Your Troubles

I was always the quiet kid in school. One day as I was walking in the hallway behind a group of kids, one of the said kids started swearing up a storm for no reason. One of the teachers heard it from their classroom and came running out to take action. The only problem was that the teacher started accusing me of swearing. I insisted it wasn't me and I was very calm about it. He insisted it was me and starts treating me like I'm trouble. That's when I lost it and said something along the lines of "it wasn't actually me actually swearing you complete horrible person." The teacher dragged me to the office thinking I was in big trouble. The principal gave me a piece of candy and said there must be a mistake because I'd never been summoned to his office before. Good times.

28.  Health Comes First

My chemistry teacher back in junior year. I had to walk out because she told me that I need to put her class before my mental health. I wasn't able to make review days because of my therapy appointments and she straight up told me, "Well, you need to make appointments for different days because my review class is important." I told her, "That is not possible, as I am only able to schedule when my therapist is able to fit me in and it just so happens to be on the days of your review classes, I can't and will not change them, 1) because I can't and 2) because I am certainly not putting you before my mental health." I almost flipped a desk. I've had a few other freakouts but that one was a no no for me.

27. When Joking Goes Horribly Wrong

I had a teacher that was super likable and always made jokes and I was okay with that. Until one day when he was calling students up to see their grade from the test. He didn’t say any test grades out loud unless the student said it was okay (mainly because they didn’t want to get up) but when he called my name he didn’t ask if it was okay to read it aloud. He told me that I made a zero and of course the whole class heard it. I had noticed he was directing his jokes at me for some time now and had had enough. I yelled “I know I didn’t make a zero! I studied for that test and I never study! Stop being mean and just tell me my real grade.” He got triggered at this sentence and told me that he would throw my test in the trash and he made motions of pretending to throw it in there. All he wanted was a laugh from the class. That’s all he ever wants.

I wasn’t putting up with it that day. He threw my test away and made me get it out as to belittle me in front of the whole class. I heard remarks of “ewwww she’s digging in the trash and “why can’t you take a joke?” My grades are not a joke to me in this class. Especially when I study for something. I threw my paper on his desk and told him to tell the class what I actually made (an 82) and I told him not to make a joke out of me again or I was going to the office. I was all in his face and he knew right then I meant business. I went back to sit down peacefully and he came over after ten minutes or so and explained to me that that wasn’t appropriate. I told him that he didn’t have to make a joke out of me and target only me and that he had started the fight and that I wasn’t gonna put up with it. He made me apologize and at the end of "I’m sorry" I said “that you decided to mess with me today.” The whole class heard and laughed so I got my revenge. I hope he never does that to another student.

26. The True Definition of "Winning"

My sixth grade math teacher was a hateful old woman. I was one of her least favorite students, math was my least favorite subject, and she was by far my least favorite teacher. Her form of punishment was giving students, namely me. multiple pages out of the dictionary or encyclopedia to copy word for word by hand. I had enough of her by the end of my sixth grade year. She had given me so many pages to copy one night I had my mom take me to the public library and I used the Xerox to copy all the pages she gave me. My mom was on board with this plan.

The next day I turned the photocopied pages to her with a smile on my face. She was so angry she told me to leave her sight and go straight to the principal's office and wait for her there. Almost half an hour later she stormed in and proceeded to tell the principal that it was in the best interest of the school to suspend me for the rest of the year. She failed to notice that my mom and dad both were in the room due to her being so angry at that time.

Her whole reasoning for my punishment was due to the fact that I refused to salute her when meeting her in the hallways. Mind you she had no military background whatsoever. After her little nervous and mental breakdown in front of everyone, because of me supposedly she was put on administrative leave for the rest of that year. We all got the sweetest substitute straight out of college to finish out our sixth-grade year. Long story short, I was an absolute legend for the rest of my middle school years by not saluting a non-military crazy horrible woman.

25. If You Could Read My Mind

In 9th grade, I finished my assignment early in class. Like 15-20 minutes after it being handed out. So I hand it in and think to myself, I'm gonna read my book until everyone else is done. No. The cow of a teacher comes up to my desk and tells me loudly that I cannot read because turning the pages was disturbing that other students. What? That teacher was a cow. This was also the teacher that crumpled and threw away my art when I once again finished early, and even sent me to the office when in response to her question of "Can you come back in and not disturb anyone?" I replied "I don't know, can I?" This was in a really small school. It was K-12 in one building, and my ENTIRE 9th grade class was 20-24 people. Like, that was the entirety of the 9th grade.

24. Creating An Unintentional Geometric Shape

I was in 10th grade in Geometry, I fell asleep, the geometry teacher decided he was gonna smack me upside my head to wake me up. Now I was already having a bad week. I had just found out that my grandma had passed away and I was not in a good place. When I felt the smack upside my head I jumped up and he was smiling, pretty sure he was about to tell me not to sleep in class, before he could get a word out I took my geometry book and just smacked the mess out of him, gave him a black eye and a concussion. Looking back on the incident later I felt really bad. Moral of the story, do not let your emotions get the better of you.

23. My Turn To Talk

I once told my college professor to stop interrupting me. He was the talkative type and our personality types were not compatible at all. I don’t remember the circumstances exactly now but I was voicing concern and he interrupted me and I just snapped and said, “Don’t interrupt me! You’re lecturing everyone about being fair to everyone and you interrupt people every day. Stop doing that.”

He ended up apologizing after class to his credit as he could have just thrown me out of class for that like most professors would have done. Still didn’t like him though.

22. Always Time For Cake

My Spanish teacher was an egotistical fartbag. It was first year Spanish but he just felt we all should know more than just the basics, he would then scream at anyone who messed stuff up. The second to last day of school he was in a really foul mood. He started yelling at his teacher's assistant, who was a sophomore. Finally, she started bawling. I hated the idiot so I stood up and started yelling at him. He threatened to have me expelled, I told him as a senior who had graduated early and was just at school to see my friends he couldn't do anything. So he kicked me out. The French teacher proceeded to invite me in for cake. He was a lovely shade of purple when he saw that.

21. Wrap It Up

Years ago, my native language teacher called my mother to school to tell her how I'm good at writing and how I should write more, especially for contests, etc, but she couldn't interest me in it. My mother said that if I didn't want to write, she couldn't make me do it, it wasn't like doing homework and stuff. At one point in their conversation, I asked my teacher, "Are you done?" She was quite confused but said yes. I said goodbye, turned around and walked out of the classroom. I was 13-14 years old at the time.

20. Case Of Basketball Jones

Back in 6th grade I had some idiot throw a basketball at my head. I got hit and yelled, "What the heck?" The teacher must not have seen me get pelted and only heard me scream. She tells me I need to go inside for the rest of recess. I, being of a very ill temper, snapped back, "Are you actually kidding me? I get hit in the head and I'm the idiot, curse you and curse whoever hit me!" I start walking off and hear her tell me to go to the principal, I did, they checked the cameras and we both got suspended (me and the fartbag who threw the ball). I deserved it but it was a shame to miss out on my whole 15 seconds of fame.

19. Sick Burn, Bro

I was feeling sick that day and puking everywhere (no idea why). Ended up missing a regular non-graded lecture but my professor called me out on missing class. I told him why I didn't attend and he said, ''You should've brought a doctor's note'' in front of the whole class. Thing was, I studied at home while I was absent (our course content is uploaded online).

Told him, ''What's the point of coming in when all you do is read off your Powerpoint?" He obviously got upset and told me that I didn't have to be here and I agreed and left.

Still passed that class with fairly good grades, so whatever.

18. Examining Your Patience

I was studying abroad in Sicily (Italy) for a few months at the university, and they were so “relaxed” about everything that I ended up staying there a whole month longer because of the examination period. I was having some problems with an exam that I was supposed to take, but I never received a time. So after exchanging 20 emails, we agree on a time and a place for me to do my exam (me being an exchange student). I show up...She doesn’t. It then takes about a week or so for me to do the bloody exam, but not before I send her a very angry email depicting just how “unorthodox and lazy this whole university is.” The lecturer in question then got very offended and set up a time and place for me to do the exam within hours.

17. That's Turtle Power

One of my elementary teachers actually hated my guts. She once told me if I kept going the way I was I would "win the most annoying kid of the year award." Of course, I went to my parents and they fully backed me up. But of course, she straight up denied it.

A few weeks later she tells a friend of mine that he should stop hanging out with me because his level would drop. Well, he told me, I immediately contacted my parents again and they went with me to school. I got a couple of witnesses and just went full rage mode, saying that she was more boring than a dying turtle (elementary school). I went home after that, apparently, she cried in class after.

The principal had me apologize to her or I couldn't re-enter the school. My only regret is doing that eventually instead of contacting the school inspection.

16. Crying On The Spot

Once in high school, a teacher of mine wanted to downgrade my 4.5 to a 3 (system in Switzerland goes from 1 worst to 6 best) in a semester which counted for the finals. Without any reason. I got really mad at him but knew that I was not allowed to shout at the teacher for something like that. So I kinda broke down there and thankfully he gave me a 4 in the end which still wasn't fair because you can give .5 grades, but at least it was a pass.

15. A Beloved Schoolyard Pastime

When I was in the 7th grade, I was walking into my math class with a hackysack. Yes, I used to do it. I was just holding it because I didn’t want to put it in my pocket. My teacher told me to put it away so I threw it in my pocket and he walked up and snatched it right out of there.

I was so mad so I got in his face a little bit and told him to give it back to me. We argued for a second before he gave it back and we went on with our day.

After the class, I felt like a champion because all of the kids were telling me how cool it was that I did that.

14. Cross Country Smack Talk

I quit the cross country team about two weeks in. Both of my physical ed teachers found out and hounded me about it for days, one day I got fed up and fought back. They were trying to tell me to "take their advice" and I told them, "Why would I ever take advice from someone working in a dead end job like a P.E. teacher," they got quiet and haven't mentioned it to me since.

13. Science Is For The Birds

I once had some kind of stomach pain, the worst pain I've felt my whole life, and was in science class. I started groaning in agony in the first row and my bud next to me said I needed to leave and go to the hospital. I wanted to but my teacher ignored me and the tears had now started streaming down my face. A minute later I just stood up, walked to the door and as soon as she tried to talk smack I told her to pipe the heck down and walked out with a raised finger. Then I proceeded to throw up in the trash outside, good times.

12. Two Birds With One Stone

When I was a senior in high school I had an AP English teacher that would grade people "based on how much she liked them" essentially. I had long hair and stretched earlobes and she despised me even though I was an excellent student in all aspects. She claimed I didn't turn in assignments on time to justify my grades so I spoke with my guidance counselor and she investigated for me. Turns out she had sorted completed assignments into piles of "good" and "bad" and would arbitrarily grade the papers based on who she felt sucked up to her the most that day. I presented a book report on The Odyssey which was by far the longest and most detailed presentation of the whole class and she gave me a D. I told her "This is the end of your career" and walked out because I had sent an identical copy to the guidance counselor. She presented it to the school board, eventually got her fired, and the best part was she was also a driver's ed instructor and lost her job doing that as well. Apparently, I wasn't the first to speak up about her but I was the one that put the nail in the coffin and it felt great.

11. Dog Days Are Over

When I was in eighth grade my science teacher decided the day before the last test of the year to give us an extra 16 pages of new material to learn by ourselves and appear in the test. Needless to say everyone lost their minds and started complaining, I wrote her an angry letter (I was later forced either to apologize or they would tell my parents, I apologized because I may have been a little inappropriate) and by the end of the year she was fired after her first year in the school. She also thought it was a good idea to bring her dogs to part of the lessons in the science lab, when there were two kids who were allergic to dogs.

10. Pretty Horrible Disciplinarian

I was a senior in college taking a chemistry class because it wasn’t required for my major until the end. Mind you, I’m an engineering student, so this freshman chem class is going to be a joke. The last problem on test three was mathematically ambiguous, I walked up to her in the test and told her that and she told me “you’ll get it right.”

Fast forward a couple of weeks and she counted me off ten points for it, so, I ran it past a few friends and I went to her office and I very calmly laid out my reasoning and a quick proof for why it was mathematically ambiguous. I was right, she said I was right, but she refused to give me the points back because that would mean that she was wrong and I was right. She took the stance of “I have a Ph.D. and you’re an undergrad.” Much cursing and anger later and I was kicked out of her office.

9. Simple With No Explanation

Sophomore year of high school I'm in an advanced algebra class and not doing well. The teacher would lecture for the first half of the class and then give us the other half to work on homework.

Since I wasn't doing well, I'd go to her desk a lot and ask for help on how to approach certain problems. She had this awful habit of just taking my notebook and finishing a problem and then going, "Did that help?" I was usually just polite and said yeah and walked back.

One day I'm confused again, bring up my homework and she just does the problem with no explanation of how she got there. I kind of roll my eyes and she saw. She said if I didn't want her help, then I shouldn't come up there. I just kind of blurt out, "I came to you because I was confused on how to do these. You're just showing me a completed problem and aren't actually teaching me problem solving."

8. Wrapped Up In Books

My math teacher in community college believed that the only way that people to learn was to place a book in front of them and let them figure it out themselves. He ignored our questions and pleas for help because we had to pass this math class to graduate. All he did was explain to us that “this is how other countries teach.” Finally one day I snapped in class and told him to get his lazy butt off of his chair and teach like a normal professor. It was so agitating because he never explained to us that this is how he taught. He was normal for the first day and then on Monday when he started his method of teaching, it was too late to drop the class without penalties.

What bothered me the most was this was a community college.

7. The Snack That Smiles Back

When I was a student, I was in food tech and the teacher yelled at me for carrying a cracker. By the middle of the lesson she told me I was doing something wrong (I wasn’t), so I yelled back at her and I’m pretty sure I told her to back off. I was a quiet polite student. Everyone was in shock.

6. Classmates Stand United

I once had a very terrible history teacher. This guy was something else. He was horrible to everyone and said some extremely questionable things. He never bothered me in particular too much, few things here and there but nothing super bad. Well, my best friend drowned while canoeing with some other students. A few days later the principal had a moment of silence for him and this teacher said 'kid deserved it.' And I lost my mind. I started yelling at him and I was crying and he was just standing there with this smirk on his face. My friends pulled me out of the room while he called the principal. I ended up suspended but there was a walkout the next day due to my suspension.

5. Down To Zero

I had a history teacher in high school that decided that because I was doing so well on my tests and not on the homework that I must be cheating on them. She proceeds to move the 2 people sitting next to me on the next test, only to find out I nearly aced it. Next test, both the person in front and behind, as well as the 2 next to me were moved. Same result. Next test, moved me into the hallway. Same result.

After all of this, she pulled me aside and said she would still be failing me on the exam because I must have had notes hidden somewhere. Had no proof, but low and behold I get a 0 on the test. Took it up with the AP and he said nothing could be done. Walked back into the class and lost my mind on her when she handed me the test back with a large 0 written across it. The next 14 weeks of school consisted of the same back and forth.

4. Someone Finally Annihilated A Guidance Counselor

I was that kind of kid. I got thrown out of Girl Scouts for calling my Leader a "stupid witch" because she made mean comments about how my mom always forgot to bring snacks the day she was assigned. Thrown out, nothing came of it really. I was 11 yrs old. My mom never corrected me.

Got thrown out of CCD (kind of like Catholic Sunday school) for arguing with the priest over abortion. I got so angry I flipped my desk and screamed at the top of my lungs. Well, hey, don't be telling little kids that everyone who gets an abortion goes to the fire. "JESUS NEVER SAID THAT!" I was 12. But my parents didn't correct me only to say to please work on my temper, and be more respectful -- even if I am right.

Got called to the guidance counselor's office junior year of high school to see my counselor who proceeded to tell me that with my poor grades, terrible attitude, and issues I would never be ANYONE of importance, or have any quality of life, and I would never, ever have ANY job of value. To which I replied, "Do you mean like a high school guidance counselor?"

My father was called to the office and could NOT stop laughing when they told him what I said. She was a piece of crap anyway and really mean to the kids.

Screw you, Mrs. Hogan-Welch. I'm 32 years old and an accountant at a Fortune 500 company. Eat it, lady.

3. Gotta Phone Home

We were having serious home troubles and I needed to keep my phone on my person to stay in contact with my mother as pickup/drop-off plans changed often. A biology teacher (renowned idiot) came up behind me while I was texting my mum and demanded I give him my phone. I calmly explain the situation and said why I needed it on my person. He proceeded to tell me how "insolent" I was like he was a Count and continued to demand my phone. I said "Well sorry mate but no can do." He stormed off and proceded to complain about me to other teachers, of which I overheard so I went up to him and called him out on it. Choice words were used.

2. Never Lock Up The Students

Context: This teacher was a sleazeball who let any tiny amount of authority go to his head. He was very strict, but at times he also tried being the "cool teacher". On top of all that, he often made inappropriate comments towards female students.

So my high school was being remodeled and we had these "portable classrooms" (basically trailers) that had their own bathrooms. I sat at the back of the class, and if I leaned back in my chair far enough I could touch the door handle to the bathroom.

My high school had a strict hall pass policy, which Mr. Sleazeball enforced to use this restroom because of "fairness to the other students" or something.

Anyway, I didn't have my hall pass with me one day, and I was about to pee my pants. So I asked Mr. Sleazeball to please let me go. The bathroom was only 4 feet away!

He comes and leans over my desk and says, "Do you have your hall pass? No? Well, I guess you can't go, then."

I thought to myself, "Screw that!" As soon as he turned around, I stood up and went to the bathroom.

As I'm cleaning up, I hear a loud noise coming from just outside. It sounded like something being dragged across the tile floor, but I didn't think anything of it until I tried to open the door and it wouldn't budge.

I tried the handle again -- it turned. Checked for a deadbolt -- none. So I pushed a bit harder and could feel something rock away from the door and then heave back on it and push the door back into me.

That's when it hit me... this idiot just moved an entire bookshelf in front of the bathroom door to try to block me in.

Well, I had had it. He was done. I held the handle down and put my shoulder into the door with full force, which knocked the bookshelf over and flung books all over the floor.

I wasted no time saying anything to Mr. Sleazeball. I walked straight to the door and headed for the office. I reported exactly what had happened, and included the fact that he had made inappropriate comments towards some female students.

What I didn't expect was administration to ask, "Who?"

My stomach fell. Either I call these girls out and hope they tell the truth and back me up, or I get myself suspended over a full bladder. So I gave them three names. Three girls who I had personally spoken with.

I was sent to the back of the office while they called these girls in one by one. I was there for about two hours before the vice principal came and got me. He was holding my belongings and simply said, "Go to your next class."

They corroborated my story! Turns out they were all close to going to the administration on their own, but this incident just brought it all to light.

I heard later in the day from some friends who were in Mr. Sleazeball's next class that he got a short 2-minute phone call, followed by a longer 30-minute phone call during which he was quietly crying in the corner.

Anyway, he wasn't seen for a while, and I got a B in the class.

1. Avoiding Those Blows

I was once accused of cheating by a TA when I was in grad school. The reason he did this is because my work was similar to another student's, which was true because we worked on the assignments together, as there was no rule barring us from doing this. I called a meeting with the professor, the TA, my friend, and myself, and throughout the entire meeting the TA kept calling me specifically a cheater, to the point where I told him that he was making me so angry and that if he called me a cheater one more time I was going to deck him. The professor immediately ended the meeting and restored my grades.
