The Best Road Trip Trucks

Is there anything more liberating than the open road? With a full gas tank and a bag of snacks, it feels like there's nowhere you can't go. Of course, it's even more fun if you choose one of the best road trip trucks available. Reliable, comfortable, and spacious -- ready for adventure.

So which one should you choose? That depends on your priorities, but with the 5 trucks on this list, you really can't go wrong. Let's burn some rubber and take a look at the road trip trucks that leave all others in the dust.

5. Chevrolet Silverado

Length: 19 to 2o feet
Height: 6'3 to 6 '5 inches
Weight: 4,474 to 5,008 lbs

Note: The numbers vary when we talk about these trucks because of differing trucks. There are a lot of things you can customize.

The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado is a tough cookie for sure. It has V8 engines, a spacious interior, and it will seat 5 or 6. So yes, there's plenty of room if you're bringing your whole family along for the ride. The Silverado also integrates lots of tech to assist drivers and entertain passengers.

The reason it doesn't rank higher on the list is mainly its interior. Although spacious, it's not as premium as some of the other trucks on this list.

4. Ford F-150

Length: 17'5 to 20'10
Height: 6'3 to 6 '5 inches
Weight: 4,069 to 5,6978 lbs

If you're going to be bringing a boat or a camper with you, the 2019 Ford F-150 will likely be your best bet. That's because it leads its class in hauling and towing. There are six engines for you to choose from, and they're all powerful. Compared to the other trucks on this list, it's also surprisingly affordable.

While it's spacious, it's interior isn't as fancy as some other options. So if comfort is your biggest consideration, you may want to consider some other candidates.

3. Jeep Gladiator

Length: 18'2
Height: 6'3
Weight: 4,650 to 5,072 lbs

Yes, Jeep is getting back into the truck market! As you would expect, if you're going off the beaten path, the Jeep will probably be the choice for you. It's a compact truck, so it doesn't take up as much space as some of the others on this list. Also, you can remove the doors, the roof, even the windshield, for that classic Jeep feel.

However, the Gladiator is considerably more expensive than comparable models from other manufacturers, and its V6 engine may seem a bit sluggish to more... vigorous drivers.

2. Honda Ridgeline

Length: 18'2
Height: 6'3
Weight: 4,235 to 4,508 lbs

If your priorities are comfort and safety, you'll be deeply impressed by the Honda Ridgeline. It's arguably the best compact pickup of them all. The Ridgeline has many safety features integrated with a very luxurious interior, and it also runs like a dream. However, since this is a smaller truck, you'll be sacrificing horsepower and hauling capacity.

So if you're looking to haul butt, you'll want to look elsewhere. But if you're looking for a safe, smooth ride on your family road trip, the Ridgeline may just be the ticket.

1. Ram 1500

Length: 19'1 to 20'2
Height: 6'4 to 6'8
Weight: 4,782 to 5,380 lbs

The Ram 1500 tops our list because it delivers in basically all categories. Smooth ride? Check. Comfy, spacious interior? Check. Lots of power for towing or just going vrooooom? Check! Like the Silverado, it also has plenty of driver assistance tech and a high-quality entertainment system to keep the kids (or other passengers) distracted all the way to wherever you're going.

The only downside here is that the Ram 1500 doesn't get great mileage. Otherwise, it's the best road trip truck for your money.

My bank says I can't deposit large amounts of cash without answering personal questions. Why do they care where my money came from?

You walk into your bank with a large amount of cash, and suddenly the teller starts asking personal questions. It can feel intrusive, especially if the money is yours and you are simply trying to deposit it. But banks are not just being nosy. My sister keeps calling me selfish because I won't co-sign her mortgage. Am I protecting myself or abandoning family?

Few money requests feel as emotionally loaded as a plea to co-sign a mortgage. It can sound like a simple act of trust, but the legal and financial consequences are anything but small. If your sister says you are selfish for saying no, the real question is whether you are refusing a favor or taking on a major debt you do not control.

My friend says paying cash at small businesses should always get you a discount. Is that expectation still realistic in 2026?

Your friend’s claim has a certain old-school charm. Hand over bills, skip the card machine, and surely the shop owner should knock a little off the price. In real life, though, whether that expectation is realistic depends on card fees, state rules, business costs, and the merchant’s own pricing strategy.
