My sister says caregiving was “just family duty,” but I lost income helping our parents. Should the estate compensate me?

You cut back your hours, missed raises, and perhaps put your own plans on hold while caring for your parents. Now your sister says none of it counts because helping family is simply what people do. I thought senior discounts would help my parents save, but they can be hard to find these days. What benefits are the most worth using?

The classic senior discount has not disappeared, but it has become inconsistent. AARP notes that age requirements, discount percentages, eligible days, and exclusions now vary widely among retailers. For many older Americans, the biggest savings are no longer found by asking for 10% off at the register, but by combining targeted discounts with government programs that can reduce major recurring expenses.
